Brief Description: Mt. Baker Housing Association (MBHA) will construct a freestanding, 11-story, 174-unit apartment building with 100% rent-restricted homes for households earning 60% of Area Median Income and below. To address the needs of large multi-generational families in the neighborhood, at least 40% of the units will have 2- and 3- bedrooms, with subterranean parking for 40% of the units. MBHA’s Resident Services program will have onsite office and programming spaces, along with indoor and outdoor amenities and play space open to all residents.

Adjacent to the apartment building, the Tubman Center for Health & Freedom will purchase a portion of the site to construct a 40,000 SF freestanding Black community-owned-and-led health care services and workforce development center serving marginalized communities. Tubman Health will work in continued partnership with the Mount Baker Housing Association to co-design the site and its future shared use. Construction of the Tubman Center will be funded separately with the goal of starting in 2024. MBHA is enthusiastic about this opportunity to connect residents in its portfolio and neighbors in the community with healthcare providers and wellness programming offered through the Tubman Center.
